Today marks the start of a ten-day festival in Cartagena, Colombia to celebrate its independence from Spain. La Independencia de Cartagena is full of carnival elements including parades of dancers inspired by African and Caribbean rhythms.

Located in the northern coast of Colombia, Cartagena is a Caribbean paradise where different ethnic groups live in harmony. Cartagena is a mix of history with its colonial Spanish past and its modern present.
