In Spain there are a lot of traditions and superstitions related to the wedding day.

Arras (unity coins): In a tradition going back to the days of the Visigoths, the groom presents the bride with thirteen arras (coins made of gold, silver or metal) which are blessed by a priest, which symbolizes the financial support the bride will receive from the groom. Nowadays the bride normally presents the groom with her own set of arras as well.
Martes (Tuesday): Superstitions say, do not get married on a Tuesday “En martes, ni te cases ni te embarques.”
Testigos (Witnesses): Two witnesses are required to sign the marriage certificate at a civil wedding or at a church wedding.
Arroz (Rice): After the church ceremony all the guests throw rice as the married couple leaves the church symbolizing the showering of abundance and fertility on the bride and groom. This is an ancient tradition also popular in other countries like the US.
