Learning Spanish with TV shows: Master Chef Junior España

The most popular TV show on Spanish television this past holiday season was Master Chef Junior. You are probably familiar with the formula because it’s been sold to many countries. I’ve selected two videos that are not difficult to understand for some listening practice. Let’s watch!

This clip is from the last episode in which the winner is announced. You can watch cute Mario receive his prize:

The presenter of the prize uses the following words related to the contest: finalista: finalist, trofeo: trophy, ganador: winner, campeón: champion, viaje emocionante: exciting trip, aspirantes: hopefuls, candidates, concurso de cocina: cooking contest

Here’s another clip where the contestants reply to the question : ¿Quién te ha enseñado a cocinar? Who taught you how to cook? Children reply: A mí me ha enseñado / me enseñó mi familia, mi madre, mi tía, mi abuela = My family / my mom / my aunt / my grandmother taught me.

You can watch more clips of full programs in the official website of Radio Televisión Española, the public TV station in Spain. Here’s a tip: listen once for general meaning, then listen again taking notes, then finally listen a third time to confirm what you wrote down.
