This weekend, many countries across the world will be spending time to celebrate dads and father figures in various ways. Variations of the holiday are also widely celebrated on other days throughout the year. In the U.S., people give cards and gifts to their fathers on the third Sunday in June. Thais celebrate by giving their father or grandfather a Canna flower on December 5 – the birthday of the current king. In Germany, Father’s Day is celebrated 40 days after Easter and groups of males go on hiking tours.
This Sunday (or whichever day you celebrate), make sure to tell that special dad in your life, “Happy Father’s Day” – but how about trying it in a new way:
English: Happy Father’s Day!
Spanish: iFeliz día del padre!
German: Alles Gute zum Vatertag!
French: Bonne fête des pères, papa!
Japanese: お父さん、いつもありがとう (Otoosan, itsumo arigatoo) – Thank you dad, for always being there.
Italian: Buona festa del papà
Now you tell us: What is your greatest memory with your father?
