A Spanish Song with International Fame: ¿¡Oye cómo va!?

Tito Puente released the internationally famous song “Oye como va” (hear how it goes) in 1963 and after lots of covers and versions by other famous artists, the original version by Tito Puente and his orchestra remains unbeatable one of my favorite songs of all time.Tito Puente was one of the most an amazing percussionist and a great latin jazz and salsa musician. Also known as “El rey de los timbales” (the drums king) Tito Puente was born in New York City, and his parents were native from Puerto Rico.

Although in 1970 Santana’s cover was massively distribute and became even more famous than the original one. Lots of people believe the Carlos Santana is the original writer. I have to say this is a quite good version but I still love the original one the most.

Cuban singer Celia Cruz also covered the iconic song in 2002 with a complete different style, adding different lyrics:

You can listen to many other Tito Puente songs here such as “Mambo King”, “Ran Kan Kan” and “El Rey del Timbal”.

I hope you enjoy this amazing latin tunes!
