  • LHawkins February 19
I am in lesson 4 and I have questions about estar-I do not know when to change from es to esta to estan that confuses me.
Also when to say un or una like una tienda or una piscina or un barrio bonito

    Hola, LHawkins:

This is Carmen, one of the Spanish tutors. Let´s take a look at your questions.

    - Changing from ESTÁ to ESTÁN: You use ESTÁ with él/ella/usted, and ESTÁN with ellos/ellas/ustedes.

    - Changing from ES to ESTÁ is a more difficult issue, and you have to be patient about it; it will take some time. You have to learn the rules and practice them. For example: You use ESTÁ for "location" and ES for "definitions". You´ll study other rules little by little with our program.

    - You use UN with masculine nouns (un barrio), and UNA with feminine nouns (una piscina).

    I hope this helps.
    Saludos,

    Carmen.
