Write and Say Numbers in Russian: 0-10

    Привет! 

    Learn how to write and say numbers in Russian. Let’s start with the numbers 0-10:
     
    0 – ноль (nol’)
    1 – один (o/a-deen)
    2 – два (dva)
    3 – три (tree)
    4 – четыре (chye-ty-rye)
    5 – пять (pyat’)
    6 – шесть (shest’)
    7 – семь (syem’)
    8 – восемь (vo-syem’)
    9 – девять (dye-vyat’)
    10 – десять (dye-syat’)

    It is useful to know how to say: Мой номер телефона / My phone number is…, or you can also simplify it by saying: Мой телефон / My telephone.

    I'm surprised that there isn't more activity here in the forums. I'm really enjoying the Complete Edition course so far, and had fun with the online activities here. I grew up with a Russian-speaking family, so I'm relearning a lot of familiar words, but I'm quite happy with how fast my pronunciation, sentence-parsing ability, and Cyrillic reading ability is developing.

    This is great that you are enjoying the course. Where in Russia did you live? Or was it a Russian family that lived in America? Please share your experiences if you like, it would be great for others to learn as well.

    Honestly, I think it's because we forget that the forums are here.  I wish that there was a newsletter that went out every week with a link into the forums.  I get so busy with work and whatnot that I myself forget that the forums are here.  

    Also, if LL could make it more social, so that we could get to know one another (like on www.babbel.com) I think it would help too.

    I'm very glad to see you are using the forums and other LL online practice to work on your Russian. We've recently opened up the forum to all customers and LL fans, not just those who have purchased an online course. All you have to do to participate is create an account with us and get posting.  
    Thanks, Monroe for your suggestions. I'd love to see the forum become "more social" as you put it.  We'll work on that.  In the meantime, tell any learners of Russian (or of any of our other languages) that you know to join the conversation on the forum.

    Очень приятно!

    Моя Бабушка приехали из Лозовая в Украине. Мой Дед был из Черкесии, недалеко Краснодаре. I'm planning to visit Ukraine next year to look for the old house, gravesites, etc.

    Я все еще говорят на русском не очень хорошо. But I'm working at it every day! I'm using TypeIt to type Cyrillic, and that has been working well for me.

    I will try to get in the habit of checking in here more often.

    Я родилась в Краснодаре, а выросла в Москве. Буду рада помочь Вам с практикой русского языка. Also, you should use eTutoring to practice your Russian speaking and of course please participate in the forums and ask questions. I am here to answer and assist in any way to help you improve your Russian :)

    я рада, что Вы зашли на форум. I agree with you that it is a good idea to make the forum more like a cultural exchange platform so that all the students can participate.

    У меня есть еще несколько вопросов.

    Are the following statements of dates correct? (I have been struggling with dates and ordinal numbers a bit and cannot seem to find answers in the LL books or online)

    Он родился пятнадцатого. (?)

    Он родился пятнадцатого марта.

    Он родился в марте.

    Он родился в тысячи девятьсот шестьдесят третем году.

    and finally

    Он родился пятнадцатого марта тысяча девятьсот шестьдесят третього.

    Also, are these correct?

    Мой младший сын родился в две тысячи втором году.

    Моя старшая дочка родилась шестого мая.

    Спасибо за Ваши вопросы. Да, я согласна с Вами, что числа и порядковые числительные - это достаточно сложная грамматика русского языка.

    Он родился пятнадцатого .....  
    Он родился пятнадцатого марта. – correct
    Он родился в марте. – correct
    Он родился в тысячA (noun doesn’t decline) девятьсот шестьдесят третЬем году (Prep. case for both: ordinal ‘third’ and noun ‘year’). – minor corrections
    Он родился пятнадцатого марта тысяча девятьсот шестьдесят третьEго. – spelling error, otherwise correct
    Мой младший сын родился в две тысячи втором году. – correct
    Моя старшая дочка родилась шестого мая. – correct
