  • Yes, the most important word of all: Arigatoo Gozaimasu!  (for all the yummy food!)

But I have a question: Is the 'g' in Arigatoo pronounced like an 'n'?   Or a 'g'?

    Arigatoo!

  • Also, I have just started studying Japanese, and is it like Chinese where there are no articles, i.e. no feminine, masculine, etc.  As in: burakku furaidee is the entire word, without worry of words like 'the', or 'an'?

    Arigatoo!

Thank you Monroe-san for reminding me that I missed something important! Actually, there are specific expressions we say before and after a meal in Japanese:

    Before a meal: いただきます。 Itadakimasu.
    - This basically means, "I humbly receive the meal."

    After a meal: ごちそうさまでした。 Gochisoosamadeshita.
    - This basically means, "Thank you for the feast."

So, instead of saying the usual ありがとう Arigatoo, you can use the above expressions, which are specifically reserved to be used before and after a meal!

...And to answer your question about articles/determiners, you're correct that Japanese does not have them!

Thanks, and have great Thanksgiving holidays!
