AskingHow are you?
おげんきですか Ogenki desu ka (How are you?) literally means Are you well? So if you like, you can respond by first saying はい Hai (Yes), and then adding げんきです Genki desu (I’m fine, neutral) or おかげさまで Okagesama de (I’m fine, polite). げんきです Genki desu can be used with anyone, so you’ll never sound rude by using this expression, but おかげさまで Okagesama de is an extra polite expression that will come in handy in more formal situations, such as a business meeting.
