In Spanish we don't have an specific word to translate "funny". Funny is a very commonly used adjective that has multiple meanings in English. In Spanish we used one different adjective for each different meaning

GRACIOSO  meaning causing laughter or amusement.
    -  Don't laugh, it is not funny!
    -  No te rías, ¡no es
    gracioso!

    -  What a funny joke!
    -  ¡Qué broma tan graciosa!

CÓMICO meaning a person with a sense of humor
    - Juan is a funny boy.
    - Juan es un chico muy cómico.
    (we could also use gracioso)

    RARO  meaning strange and peculiar
    - It is smell funny

    - Huele raro

The word DIVERTIDO is most commonly used as fun when referring to a person, or a thing.

When referred to a person: It refers to a person fun to hang out with, with sense of humor and, amusing, etc.

    - Tu hermana es muy divertida.
    - Your sister is very fun.

When referred to a thing: means funny, causing laughter or amusement.

    - La película es muy divertida.

    - The movie is very funny.

I want to explain a very funny (graciosa) expression in Spanish for

    - ¿What is so funny?
or - ¿What are you looking at? (when someone staring at you)

The Spanish funniest expression is: - ¿Tengo monos en la cara?

Literally means: "Do I have monkeys on my face?"
