Yay!  I must say, I was choosing between A and B for question number one since the rest of the week has a number in it.  Would you by any chance know the reason why it is xingqitian, and not xingqiqi?

When I worked for Carrier Air Conditioning in Taiwan in the '80s, we used the word 冷气机。

Grace, that is a good question. There are many origins regarding seven days' names. There is a simple reason. As is known to all, Sunday is the first day of a week, not the last day of a week. Also, it is weekend . So it is a very special day among the seven days of a week. If it is called as 星期七, people may consider it as the last day of a week.

HouXiansheng, well, Taiwan has a tropical temperature.  So the air conditioning is mostly used to cool the air, hence I suppose the term 冷气机 (cold air/gas machine).  But here in the United States, my central A/C can both cool down and warm up the air.  So I use 空调 (air/atmosphere adjustment) when I am talking about it.  But I am sure people can figure out what you mean regardless which vocabulary you use.  This is the cool thing about the Chinese language......you can figure out the meaning of a word/vocabulary by analyzing the meaning of its individual characters.
