    Hola, G:

    This are my answers:

    - This is a "particular" expression that we use to express DISTANCE (space and time):
    ESTAR A 2 millas/3 horas...

    - ESTÁ a dos cuadras: We use estar for LOCATION
    - ES la avenida principal: We use ser for definitions, explanations of what something is

    - Which building is the post office? ¿Qué edificion es la oficina de correos?

    - to STOP: parar

    - gira/continúa/para... these are commands

    Saludos,

    C.

The book does not go into commands.   the tape CD actually  shows my age talking about tape.    Unfortuately uses the spanish letters (name of) which makes a tad difficult for me to understand.   Tells how to make commands for informal and formal.
    girar--- to turn
    in present is
    yo giro
    tu giras
    el ect  gira
    nos   giramos
    vos  girais  (maybe)
    ellos ect   giran
intersting in turn  in  english the  dictionary  does not give girar as a verb   edited by
Salvatore Ramondino    very thick... will look again... OK  under  vi  it does and a vi  verb does not if I remember right does not have direct object.

So it seems to me they talk about commands in English and then tell letters in Spanish

So  gira   looks like with no more information looks like he she it  turns in present
So look up now conjugation of commands  for  ar verbs

By now, you are well acquainted with the fact that Spanish has both a
formal and an informal style of speech (tú / Ud.). This distinction
    applies to commands.

    Compre Ud. el anillo.

    Buy the ring. (formal)

    Compra (tú) los dulces.

    Buy the candy. (familiar)

So the lessons are using I think  tu commands  and I was confused with  third person singluar....  I'm sure you know how to conjugated it all so no need to post it here.
    you is Carmen and Chili
