About moving to a Spanish speaking country...
  • THoth September 2011
I plan to probably move to Mexico within several months. What level of proficiency should I reach before moving there?  I will not have to have a job immediately.  From my experience in Spain this summer I know I will need to know more than I do now!  Mexico city is my first choice by the way.

    Congratulations on your desition Thoth!

I moved from Spain to the States and my level increased exponentially after my arrival once i had no choice but speak and listening to english.

Practicar, practicar, practicar is the clue.

And for what you said you have been practising up to 6 hours a day. I am sure that you will be fine when you get there, and you will reach a proficiency level within time.

What kind of job are you thinking about doing in Mexico City?

I am not sure Anna. .. if I can get a job.  Perhaps different language agencies may need some help.  Or I can busk on the street.
