I'm enjoying the lessons very much, but I'm confused by a question in the "word recall" on page 119. It asks for the translation of "My mom is nice." I thought it would be "La mia mamma ... ," per the explanation of definite articles on page 76, but the answer key says "Mia mamma...." Can someone explain? Thank you.

Both forms are correct. The article is optional and adds a feeling of affection. With the article, the sentence also sounds more colloquial.
