Japanese Name titles
-
Hey y'all, I had a quick question about Japanese culture, I think. I know with different people, one calls each individual a different name; for example, sama, kun, chan, san, sensei, etc. I want to know how many are there and what do you use some of them for like chan or kun? Thanks!

Wonderful that you pretty much provided the exhaustive list of titles! Proud of you. Please find description of each title below:
- 様 (さま sama): Honorific. Usage example: when calling customers, when writing the addressee on a letter/envelope.
- ちゃん (chan): Used when calling kids and young people. Usually used for girls.
- 君 (くん kun): Used when calling boys and young men.
- 先生 (せんせい sensei): Used when calling teachers, instructors, professors, and doctors.
- さん (san): Neutral. Used when none of the above applies. Also it is more formal and polite to use "san" instead of "chan" or "kun" when calling young men and women.
