    LA GENTE

As you may already know "gente" (noun)  means people in English.

Gente (noun) is feminine and singular, as opposed to people in English (which is plural noun / no gender),

    1. We usually use the feminine singular article
    "la" in front "la gente"

    2. When using Gente as the subject of a sentence, we conjugate using a singular tense.

"La gente es diferente" ( Literal = the people is different / Meaning = people are different)

"La gente tiene hambre" (Literal = the people have hunger/ Meaning = people are hungry)

"La gente está en la calle ( Literal = the people is in the street / Meaning = People are in the street)

    3. There are a lot of people, translates "hay mucha gente"
