Please use a headset if possible

Many computers nowadays have both speakers and a built-in microphone. If you have one of those computers, you can, in theory, participate in an eTutoring session without a headset.

However, there are possible problems in such an audio setting. First, if you use speakers, eTutors and other students can hear their own voice echoing back to them, especially when the speaker volume is set high. This makes it very difficult for them to speak. Second, if you use a built-in microphone, it tends to catch a lot of noise and your voice may not be heard clearly.

For the best results, using a headset is recommended. You can hear everyone's voice clearly, and your voice will be heard clearly.

For whatever reasons, getting a headset is not possible, you may want to use regular headphones/earphones for listening and keep using your built-in microphone for speaking. Using headphones/earphones will prevent other participants from hearing back their own voice, and it will make things go smoother.

    Thanks!

This is a great suggestion. Even a cheap headset will make a world of difference to you, your eTutor, and the other students in your session.

Yes, a cheap one will do! You can get a decent one for about $15. It's really worth it!
