Graffito?

    Is graffiti a plural noun in Italian? What other Italian words have we borrowed in English? I mean, besides foods. Those I think I know.

    Graffito is singular. Graffiti is plural. "Graffitari" is slang for people who make graffiti. Now, graffiare means to scratch; to scrape. 

    The are many words you guys have borrowed, too many to list here. Nota Bene, for instance  was borrowed from Italian. 

    More than the actual Italian words, it is very important to be aware of the existence of cognates, those are very important. Look at our previous forum posts to get a better idea.

    Graffiare.  Allora, posso dire: Ho grafato mia testa.  ??  I scratched my head.  E giusto?

    Graffiato. But you cannot use it like in English. For your head you need grattare (to grate) "Grattare la testa" is correct, but you need to conjugate it. Ciao ciao. M
